BAGE is proud to stand alongside leading organisations, under the auspices of EGEC, in advocating for a dedicated European Geothermal Strategy and Action Plan.
Recent sector-wide efforts across the geothermal community highlight the urgent need for Europe to catch up as global geothermal capacity is set to expand rapidly.
A coherent EU strategy is essential to strengthen Europe’s energy security, competitiveness, and progress toward climate neutrality by 2050. The approach put forward by geothermal industry stakeholders and experts underscores the importance of supporting all geothermal applications — from electricity and heating and cooling to storage and the extraction of critical raw materials such as lithium.
With clear political commitment, streamlined permitting, innovation support, and targeted investment, geothermal energy can become a resilient, local, and affordable renewable resource for households, cities, industries, agriculture, healthcare, and energy communities across Europe.
